According to historians, it is one of the most complete copies of the oldest manuscript of the Holy Quran, known as the «Quran of Uthman», copied by the hand of the third “righteous Caliph” and bearing his blood on its pages. Radiocarbon analysis of this manuscript conducted in Holland, showed that it was made no later than the second century of the Hijri, that is refers to the VIII-IX centuries. Paleographic analysis has shown that the manuscript was compiled in Arabia or Northern Syria.

The “Golden Quran” is a complete copy of the “Quran of Uthman” and consists of 162 pages made of Au 999. It exists in a single copy and is currently stored at the St. Petersburg Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

This unique artifact is periodically sent to special exhibitions and has already been demonstrated in Iran, Egypt, Libya and Bahrain. On March 7th, 2009, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador and the Special Representative of the President of Russia, presented His Highness, the King of Saudi Arabia with a page from the “Golden Quran”.
